Is my toothpaste vegan?

During Veganuary, many people are thinking about how the consumption of animal-derived products impacts us and the environment. But how many of you are actually wondering if animal ingredients might be in your toothpaste?

Hi Brusher,

During Veganuary, many people are thinking about how much the consumption of animal-derived products impacts us and the environment. But how many of you are actually wondering if animal ingredients might be present in your toothpaste? Most of the toothpastes we find on supermarket shelves are still mostly just a mix of different chemicals. The situation gets worse when they also contain animal ingredients.

So what is in toothpastes that is not vegan:

  • Glycerin from animal fats
  • Lactoferrin (antimicrobial substance, from cow's milk)
  • Beeswax and pollen
  • Animal bone meal (as an abrasive)
  • Animal testing during production

Vegan toothpastes are therefore free of animal ingredients and have not been tested on animals.

Our promis paste toothpastes (with and without fluoride) are not only 100% vegan, but also 99% natural and organic.
