Human Impact on Earth | Earth Day

According to UNEP experts, human behavior has had a heavy impact on the oceans, water, biodiversity, atmosphere, and soil, but also on human health. Our Mother Earth is clearly crying out to us for help. To help reduce this impact, in my own small way, I start in the morning while brushing my teeth. Do you?

Many people interested in the environment and sustainability have probably seen the Netflix documentary "Seaspiracy" that came out a few weeks ago. I don't know about you, but this documentary makes me feel so helpless that and my daily efforts seem futile. We need a radical change. In my opinion educating people and opening their eyes is already a first step toward change. I thought everyone knew about the environmental problems we human beings have caused to ourselves. About the oil problem, water problem, melting glaciers, extinction of animal species, the ocean, plastic and so on. But we don't.

And that is why activities like World Earth Day are so important. April 22 marks World Earth Day. "Earth Day", created in 1970 with the goal of promoting the conservation of our planet's natural resources. Based on the principle that every human being has the right to live in a healthy and sustainable environment, events have been held on this day since 1970 to date to raise awareness of climate change and of human impact on our planet. According toUNEP experts, human behavior has had a heavy impact on the oceans, water, biodiversity, atmosphere, and soil, but also on human health. Our Mother Earth is clearly crying out to us for help. Nature is suffering. Devastating fires in Australia, record-breaking temperatures, melting glaciers and ice caps, and catastrophic weather events. And now we face a global health pandemic, COVID-19.

It is time to turn the tide. And that starts with everyday choices in our homes, our cities and our towns.

I start in the morning while brushing my teeth. How about you?

Here I would like to share a video to open your eyes:
